I rented my soul to someone else

Sometimes i feel like I’m someone else
Someone who doesn’t belong here
He comes like a doc to check my pulse
Who’s this unknown person in my empire

There are times he questioned my choice
Leaving me in a state of yes no confusion
He is invisible but i can still hear his voice
Which is loud and clear debating my decision

He was right there when the times are rough
Helping me in regaining my shattered confidence
Not that I’m complaining, he is way too tough
Without my consent he turned my soul his residence

I’m desperate to meet him and to have a chat
To clear the air and to sort out our differences
For that i want to end this invisible combat
And let him win once for all the sacrifices

Dealing The Depression The Right Way

I was walking in the path lane of a park in the evening nearby my place. The whole park has been packed with many sections of people. Children’s assisted by their moms, some group of women and men chanting some devotional mantras, some young people sharing their thoughts, some group of old people sitting relaxed and laughing by memorizing their own old good memories. Everything was quite beautiful about the atmosphere until I spotted some other section of people. They were sitting all alone by themselves. They aren’t listening any music, they aren’t busy with their gadgets talking to someone or browsing. They look completely Un interested about the surroundings. They are looking like someone who got strangled in a remote island.  They are suffering with loneliness though they are surrounded by many people.

I even came to a conclusion that they were doing some sort of yoga or meditation which sent them to this Trans world. When I paid a close attention, that’s when I realized these are the people who are suffering from some serious major depression disorders.

Every day of my life is tightly packed with mixed emotions. I feel low, Lost, Happy, Depressed, Thoughtful and you name it and it got every flavor of it. Our mood is a very fluctuating substance.  I’m sure our life will not be so exciting if we are exposed to a same sort of emotion for a prolonged period of time.

But what if I become lost, Helpless, Hopeless or uninterested in my most favorite activities for longer time. The stress in work, personal differences with someone who are close to our heart, illness and lot other factors can be held responsible for being a reason for the major depression disorder.  The major difference as such between the Low Mood and Depression is that unlike depression, Low mood will be disappeared very soon. But the depression will stay with you for a longer duration. There are quite a range of reasons which poses the threat of depression. Any Abuse in the past specially child sex abuse, Death or loss of someone who is very close to heart, Conflicts especially personal differences with other persons, Serious illness can also be a major reason, State of Social Isolation due to some medical condition or even for a simpler reason like obesity, Substantial abuse like addiction for alcohol and drugs, Continuous exposure to stress, Even by the occurrence of the major events of life like getting a new job, getting married can also trigger the mood depression. Likewise many other personal problems can also turn out to be a reason for depression. Various research outcomes suggests even the excessive consumption of certain medications might also cause the depression.

There are certain medical complications which can be cured by medications. But this type of disorders especially related to the human emotions and mood fluctuations the chemical medicines doesn’t help you much. If we can closely observe the tendency of the people around us sure we can spot many people who are suffering from this depression disorder. The intensity might be varying from person to person but definitely we can find many people in our society suffering from this major disorder. There are some symptoms which can be used to identify whether the person is suffering from the depression disorder or not.

Mood: anxiety, apathy, boredom, general discontent, guilt, hopelessness, inability to feel pleasure, loneliness, loss of interest, mood swings, sadness, or emotional distress

Cognitive: lack of concentration, slowness in activity and thought, or thoughts of suicide

Behavioral: agitation, excessive crying, irritability, self-criticism, self-harm, or social isolation

Sleep: early awakening, excess sleepiness, insomnia, or restless sleep

Whole body: excessive hunger, fatigue, or loss of appetite

Psychological: depression or repeatedly going over thoughts

Weight: weight gain or weight loss

Also common: poor appetite, restlessness, or substance abuse

The best medicine for the Depression is Self Help. The people around you can just provide you the moral support. I’m not trying to diminish the reconcile factor of the moral support from the near and dear but at the end it’s you who has to stand on your feet and to win over this serious depression disorder.

When you find that you are no more interested in doing your most loved activity, be it blogging, trekking, cooking or whatever it is, then you should retrospect your stability of mood and emotions. Depression is like a virus. Once it steps in it will slowly try to eat on your strengths and if not stopped it will leave you nothing but weaknesses. As the good proverb says prevention is better than cure. But the Depression disorder is one such thing that can easily attack the people with sensitive mindset. If you question yourself why you are sensitive there are hell a lot of reasons for it. The brought up, health, state of social isolation etc, the modern brought up by many parents is like raising their children as a circus Lion. A circus Lion is habituated to earn its food with no struggle.

The circus guy will anyway feed them. It makes them lazy and sober. What if such circus Lions are moved to a jungle? Sure they will die with starvation in no time. They got adapted to the lifestyle of being in cages and eating the meat without any hard work. And when they are forced to earn their food through hard work, they will obviously fail as they were never exposed to the tactics of hunting. But it’s not the case as far as a Lion which has born and brought up in a jungle is concerned.  Right from the childhood it will be exposed to all kind of odd situations and sometimes even they will get hurt, but still it’s a lesson learnt. They will learn the hunting and surviving tactics from their parents and soon they will reach the maturity level to survive on their own.

So all the parents should raise their children as a jungle Lion but not as a circus Lion. Those with strong minds can fight against the odds and win over them as a warrior. Parents shouldn’t teach the kids how to avoid the problems but should give them the courage to fight them. Such strong person can be untouched by any sort of depression or some other. So one should learn to be tough from inside. No matter how serious the situation is or how strong the issue is, learn to stand and fight till the end. Defeat is always a good lesson to learn.

When you feel you are being left alone and loneliness is inching towards you, never hesitate share your thoughts with your near and dear. Sharing feelings will not only reduce your grief but also will help the other person to learn your issues. Our loved ones are those who will not run away from us when they knew that we are suffering from something, instead they will do whatever they are permitted to do until they got the belief that we are out of that trouble. So always share your thoughts, don’t restrict yourself between the walls of your room.

Step outside and mingle with as many people as you can. Getting isolated just doesn’t help particularly while dealing with depression. You should get yourself real busy and this again can only be possible if you turn a true social animal. Social isolation is a kind of reason for depression and whenever you sense that, just crush it right there. When we lost our dear ones yes the pain in not something than can be described with words. The void they left in us in not easy to fill. But god has gifted us with a volatile memory. Time will make us forget anything and everything slowly. I won’t say that those memories will be formatted completely like in some disk drive but sure the intensity of impact of those memories on our mind shall be narrowed down to a major extent gradually. We should pull ourselves up from such situations and even we know that after a day, or 2 or 3 or whatever we need to move on. Solitude is not a way to pay respect to our beloved ones. The best way to pay respect is to achieve what our loved ones always wants us to. Psychiatrists are always there to help us out. So whenever you feel that you need some expert’s assistance just visit a psychiatrist straight away.

So never surrender to depression, once surrendered it won’t leave you that easily. It will make you disbelieve your strengths and will force you to curse yourself for your incompetency. Have the courage to fight against depression, never forget to take the support from your near and dear and even from experts if needed. It’s the fight for winning back the missing “you”. It’s all about initiating the fight, the victory is well known obvious outcome.
